NLAC’s Laser-induced Thrombosis Chip Accelerates Drug Development, Wins CES 2025 Innovation Award.
2024
“The Intern’s Notebook,” subsidized by NSTC and co-produced by NARLabs and Dong Tai Communication Co., Ltd., wins Best Natural Science Program at the 59th Golden Bell Awards, marking NARLabs’ third Golden Bell Award.
NCHC’s “3D Fishing Ports Smart Management Platform” wins the Innovation Application Award at the 2024 Smart City Innovation Awards.
NCHC’s “Digital City” Smart Traffic Congestion Prediction and Police Deployment Support System, co-developed by Dr. Chung-I Huang, Prof. Jenq-Neng Hwang of the University of Washington, and Prof. Jun-Wei Hsieh of National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, wins the 2024 Future Tech Award.
The multimodal tracking algorithm co-developed by NCHC and the University of Washington wins the Multi-Modal Tracking Challenge at the 27th International Conference on Pattern Recognition (ICPR 2024).
NCHC and the University of Washington claim dual championships at the 2024 Workshop on Maritime Computer Vision (MaCVi), hosted by the IEEE/CVF Winter Conference, winning both the UAV-based Multi-Object Re-Identification Challenge and USV-based Multi-Object Tracking Challenge.

TORI Senior Engineer Shao-Yung Liu wins the 9th Ocean Exploration Contribution Award, hosted by the Oceanographic Society of the Republic of China.
TORI Dr. Jia-Ming Deng wins the 2024 TAO Journal Young Scientist Award.
TIRI’s “Miniaturized Telemedicine Wound Healing Stage Recognition System Based on Multispectral Light Source Blood Oxygen Imaging Technology”, which has assisted National Cheng Kung University in analyzing wound healing, wins the 2024 Future Tech Award and the Innovative Improvement Category of the 21st National Innovation Award.
TIRI, Chiayi Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, and National Taiwan University co-develop a portable human body water meter. Their project, “Quenching the Brain’s Thirst: Hydration Therapy for Acute Ischemic Stroke”, wins the Excellence Award in the Outstanding Medical Category at the 2024 National Healthcare Quality Award (NHQA).
TIRI collaborates with the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in developing medical testing equipment and sensing test pieces. Their project, “Assessing Health Through Saliva: Electrical Conductivity as an Innovative Indicator for Diabetes Monitoring”, wins the Clinical Innovation Category of the 21st National Innovation Award.
STPI’s “Nationwide Document Delivery Service (NDDS)” wins the 2023 Interlibrary Cooperation Service Performance Excellence Award at the 17th First General Meeting of the Interlibrary Cooperation Association.
2023
NCHC wins the 2023 SGS IT Awards-Information Security Management Excellence Award.
NCHC wins the Platinum Award at the 2023 Taiwan Innotech Expo Invention for developing a “Method for correcting abnormal point cloud”.
Professor Hsu Huang-Hsiung from Research Center for Environmental Changes of Academia Sinica wins the 2023 Executive Yuan Award for Outstanding Science and Technology Contribution for “Taiwan Earth System Model (TaiESM)”, developed using NCHC’s supercomputer TAIWANIA.
TIRI cooperates with medical universities and hospitals to develop medical optical instruments, and wins 2 Academic Research Innovation Awards and 1 Clinical Innovation Award at the 20th National Innovation Awards, for a total of 3 Awards.
Dr. Hsiao Wen-Tse from TIRI wins the Chinese Metrology Society Outstanding Metrology Engineer Award 2023.
Kun Shan University and TORI produced “Popular Science Popular Art” to be nominated for Best Natural Science Documentary Show at the 58th Golden Bell Awards.
The research results of NCREE Director General Chou Chung-Che and Professor Loh Chin-Hsiung’s team win the 2023 Engineering Paper Award from the Chinese Institute of Civil and Hydraulic Engineering and the Chinese Institute of Engineers for “Construction of Online Health Diagnosis and Safety Assessment System for Structures: Applied to the NCREE Building".
The National Taiwan Museum wins the Innovation Application Award at the 2023 Smart City Summit & Expo for the "National Taiwan Museum-5D Smart Structural Safety Monitoring System and Platform" assisted in building by NCREE.
2022
The National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) and the National Applied Research Laboratories (NARLabs) partners with DongTai Films to produce the popular science series, Next, AI, which wins Best Natural Science Documentary Show at the 57th Golden Bell Awards. This is the second time NARLabs has won a Golden Bell Award.
NCREE Convener Lin Cheng-Horng leads a team from Taiwan Volcano Observatory-Tatun to win a 2022 Executive Yuan Award for Outstanding Science and Technology Contribution for their work “Verifying Taiwan’s Active Volcanoes and Establishing the Taiwan Volcano Observatory-Tatun”.
TORI wins a Ministry of Education 2022 Marine Education Contribution Award for promoting SDGs on quality education and balanced social development. Such an award is the highest honor for those promoting marine science education in Taiwan.
TIRI partners with Imec of Belgium and National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) on developing hyperspectral microscope image analyzer and technology development. This partnership wins 17th Innovation Award for Metrology Technology R&D from the Chinese Metrology Society in 2022 for developing hyperspectral microscope image adjustment.
By developing the “Taoyuan Social Housing Earthquake Disaster Prevention Smart City Simulation Mechanism,” NCREE wins a Ministry of the Interior Excellent Smart Building Works Award for assisting the Office of Housing Development, Taoyuan construct 2 Zhong-Lu Social Housing.
2021
NCHC, NYCU, and Tunghai University win the 2021 R&D 100 Award for developing Cloud-based Smart Point Cloud Processing (CSPCP) technology. This is the only team from Taiwan to be nominated and win the R&D 100 Awards IT/Electrical category.
NCHC wins a Red Hat APAC Innovation Award for developing an education cloud (Edu-Cloud) based on a Cloud-Native architecture. In addition to winning this global honor, NCHC’s system has been enthusiastically adopted by many education institutions.
TIRI and Hualien Tzu Chi Hospital win a Clinical Innovation Award at the 18th National Innovation Awards for developing a “Smart Medicine Kit”.
TIRI and National Taiwan University College of Medicine win an Academic Research Innovation Award at the 18th National Innovation Awards for developing a “Extraction-free Rapid Detection System for Pesticide Residue”.
TIRI and NYCU Department of Biomedical Engineering win an Academic Research Innovation Award at the 18th National Innovation Awards for developing an “Artificial Jaw and Implant Bone Bionic Structure”.
TIRI wins an Innovation Award for Metrology Technology R&D in for work on “Atomic Level Science and Engineering Technology Development”.
NCREE wins a gold medal in the "Toward Future Homes" category of the Intelligent Green Building Design Competition with its "Shalun Zone C 5D Smart Maintenance and Management System".

TIRI and a team led by National Taiwan University Professor Yih-Shurng Chen win a Clinical Innovation Award at the 17th National Innovation Awards for developing a “Portable Coaxial LED Surgical Headlight and Video Recording System with Intelligent Editing Function”.
NLAC and Pell Biomedical Technology win an Enterprise Innovation Award at the 17th National Innovation Awards for work on “Processes Capable of Producing Extremely High Proportions of Stem Memory-like CAR-T Cells (Tscm)”.
TIRI wins a Taiwan Photonics Society 2020 TPS Technology Award for developing “Smart Inspection Equipment with Real-Time Feedback for Solar Panel Production Lines”.
20 papers from Taiwan are selected for the 2020 International Electron Devices Meeting. One fifth of Taiwan’s total selections come from NARLabs Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute (TSRI).

The R/V LEGEND research vessel and a deep-sea remotely operated vehicle (ROV) successfully locate the black box of a Dassault Mirage 2000 fighter jet.
TORI skillfully utilizes marine technology and detection expertise to successfully assist the Port of Kaohsiung resolve a port congestion crisis by salvaging sunken containers stuck in shipping lanes.
TIRI and Epistar win an Innovation Award for Metrology Technology 2019 of the Chinese Metrology Society for developing a “High-throughput Wafer-level Probing System for Micro Gas Sensors”.
